On May 16, 2025, Brown attended a celebrity boxing match in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood. During the event, he argued with 41-year-old jeweler Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu. Witnesses report Brown seized a handgun from security and fired twice. One bullet grazed Nantambu’s neck but did not threaten his life. Investigators reviewed cell phone videos, which show Brown shouting and holding a black handgun moments before shots rang out.
Months on the Run
After the shooting, police issued an arrest warrant for Brown in June. He fled to Dubai, sharing his travels and luxury shopping trips on social media. Detectives monitored those posts and worked with Dubai officials to plan the arrest and extradition.
Defense and Legal Outlook
Brown’s attorney argues that he acted in self-defense. The defense claims several men tried to assault and rob Brown. “He defended himself during a chaotic assault,” his attorney said. Brown remains in custody without bond. His first court appearance in Miami is expected next week.
