Chuck E. Cheese is officially growing up—literally. The family-favorite chain has launched a brand-new concept: Chuck’s Arcade, a spin-off created specifically for adults. The move signals a bold new direction for the company, with one of the first locations opening in St. Petersburg, Florida, as part of a larger national expansion.

A Grown-Up Spin on Childhood Nostalgia

Chuck’s Arcade isn’t a rebranded kid zone—it’s a curated adult playground. The space blends retro favorites like Donkey Kong and Mortal Kombat with modern games like Halo and Connect Four Hoops. Every arcade is uniquely designed with custom artwork and nostalgic décor, celebrating the brand’s legacy while catering to millennial and Gen X audiences who grew up loving Chuck E. Cheese.

And yes—the animatronic characters are still around, with some arcades featuring appearances from Chuck E. or other members of Munch’s Make Believe Band.

Prizes, Pizza, and Pour-Over Beer

In true Chuck E. Cheese fashion, guests can win prizes, including retro merch and collectibles. Select locations will also serve food and drinks, including pizza, beer, and wine. The Kansas City arcade, for instance, includes a full pizzeria and limited bar service, giving patrons a complete evening out.

From Bankruptcy to Bold Expansion

This adult-focused concept arrives five years after Chuck E. Cheese filed for bankruptcy during the pandemic. Since then, the brand has invested over $350 million in remodeling its 500 locations and launched new pricing options to stay competitive with budget-conscious families.

CEO David McKillips calls Chuck’s Arcade a “natural evolution” that helps extend their legacy and engage both lifelong fans and new audiences. It also comes at a time when competitor Dave & Buster’s is struggling, reporting a 9.4% drop in same-store sales.

With 10 locations already operating nationwide—including in Tulsa, El Paso, and St. Louis—Chuck’s Arcade looks poised to become a go-to spot for adults craving some playful nostalgia with a side of beer.
