Immersive Symphony Lights Up Miami Beach Landmark with Tech-Driven Performances
The Miami Beach Classical Music Festival (MMF) is making waves again this summer with a cutting-edge blend of classical music and visual storytelling. Held at the historic Temple Emanu-El, the festival’s immersive productions are transforming one of Miami Beach’s most iconic venues into a 360-degree symphonic experience.

Projection Mapping Meets Classical Music
Thanks to a $1.5 million investment from the City of Miami Beach, the synagogue’s ballroom now houses a permanently installed projection mapping system. This advanced setup lets MMF directors turn the entire room into a moving, animated backdrop for music.
Festival director Michael Rossi describes it as “basically like a Disney ride.” One returning favorite, the “Immersive Space Symphony,” includes Holst’s The Planets and cinematic music from Hans Zimmer—a visual and musical journey through space that ran for seven weeks last year due to high demand.
A New Era for Temple Emanu-El
Built in 1948, Temple Emanu-El sits near The Fillmore and New World Center, but the new tech positions it as a uniquely interactive venue. According to Ricardo Gil, general manager of Emanu-El Luxury Venue, the projection system has already drawn new interest for bar mitzvahs, corporate events, and more year-round performances.
“Before, they would set up and take down the equipment. Now, it’s permanent—and that changes everything,” said Gil.
Free Opera, Stunning Visuals

Alongside the space symphony, MMF will stage immersive operas throughout July, featuring:
- Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro – July 12 & 13
- Dvořák’s Rusalka – July 18 & 19
- Corigliano’s The Ghosts of Versailles – July 25 & 27
While general admission is free, preferred seating close to the stage is available for $35.
Training Ground for Tomorrow’s Musicians
Founded in 2013, MMF serves as a launchpad for young musicians, many of whom go on to train with elite programs like New World Symphony. Rossi hopes the immersive format will continue to attract both new audiences and support for emerging artists.
