Chef Britt Rescigno Reaches TOC Final Four Again

· ·

New Jersey native Chef Britt Rescigno has once again proven she can hang with the best of the best — even without Michelin stars or a James Beard Award on her résumé. On Sunday night’s finale of Food Network’s Tournament of Champions Season 6, Rescigno’s third deep run ended in heartbreak — falling just one point short of reaching the finals.

A Season of Standout Dishes

Throughout the season, Rescigno wowed judges with creative, high-level plates like:

  • Coffee-crusted top sirloin with braised and fried mustard greens and whipped potatoes
  • Butter-poached lobster over country-style polenta with peas
  • Seared beef oyster steak farrotto with herb salad and savory pizzelle

She outcooked top competitors like Chris Oh, Michael Reed, and Kaleena Bliss to earn a final-four spot — her third in three years. This time, she faced TOC veteran Antonia Lofaso, a familiar rival and fan favorite.

The Finale of One Ingredient, One Color, One Point

The challenge? A Randomizer-assigned combo:

  • Protein: Pompano
  • Produce: Figs
  • Equipment: Lava rocks
  • Style: Escabeche
  • Wildcard: Dish had to be primarily purple

Rescigno crafted a poached pompano escabeche with a tostada, purple cauliflower, carrots, and cabbage. Lofaso responded with a whole fried pompano over purple cauliflower purée and vegetable escabeche.

Both chefs earned an overall score of 82, but the tie-breaker was taste — Rescigno scored a 40, Lofaso edged her out with a 41.

“This is the hardest thing,” Rescigno said after the loss. “You put everything into it, and sometimes it doesn’t work out. It just felt like it this year — it really felt like it.”

A Final Full of Surprises

In the other semifinal, Sara Bradley beat Lee Anne Wong in a tight battle. Bradley then faced Lofaso in the finals, cooking with wagyu beef, huitlacoche, and a sausage stuffer, with the final dish needing to include a spicy-hot and sticky-cold element. The final round included a surprise fourth judge — Martha Stewart — joining Brooke Williamson, Mei Lin, and Maneet Chauhan.

Lofaso ultimately triumphed, winning TOC Season 6 by a razor-thin margin — her first title after two previous final four finishes and a one-point loss in Season 5.

The Bigger Picture Women Continue to Dominate

Season 6 continued a powerful trend: all six TOC champions have been women, and no male chef has ever made it to the final battle. Rescigno’s consistent performance — without the industry accolades of her competitors — stands as a testament to talent over titles.

Tournament of Champions will return in spring 2026 with Season 7.
