Navy Federal Credit Union experienced a service disruption Friday afternoon, as thousands of users reported problems accessing services on the app and website.

Over 1,350 Users Affected by Major Downtime

On May 9, 2025, NFCU experienced a widespread outage that disrupted access to its mobile app, website, and online banking services. According to Downdetector, a site that monitors service outages through user reports, more than 1,350 users flagged issues during the incident.

  • 80% of reports cited issues with the mobile banking app
  • 19% involved the website
  • 1% experienced problems with online banking access overall

NFCU Responds to User Complaints

NFCU addressed the situation on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, saying it was aware of the login issues. The bank assured members that its technical teams were working to restore full service.

“We are aware that some members are unable to login to Online and Mobile Banking at this time. Our teams are working to bring everything back to 100%. We apologize for the inconvenience,” NFCU wrote.

Users Frustrated Over Friday Downtime

Social media quickly lit up with frustration, as members were unable to complete important banking tasks just as the weekend approached.

  • “Navy Federal mobile and online banking being down on a Friday is insane!” one user posted.
  • “Navy Federal better fix this issue immediately cause I have stuff to do,” another wrote.
  • A third added: “Navy federal on some str8 bullshit!! On a Friday too!! Smfh.”
