28 Years Later Trailer 2: Rage Returns in Explosive Horror Sequel
The second official trailer for 28 Years Later is here — and it’s as intense, eerie, and explosive as fans hoped. Directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland, the sequel continues the legacy of one of the most defining zombie films in modern horror.

Starring Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, and Jack O’Connell, the film marks the long-anticipated next chapter in the 28 Days Later saga. The new installment picks up nearly three decades after the original rage virus outbreak devastated the UK.
Life After the Rage Virus: What the Plot Reveals
Set in a world still ravaged by the virus, the film introduces a quarantined island community that has managed to survive on the edge of the infected mainland. The group’s fragile peace is threatened when one survivor embarks on a perilous mission back to the mainland — discovering horrors not only among the infected but also among other survivors.
The trailer teases high-tension visuals, desperate battles, and nightmarish new threats. And yes, the infected are still terrifyingly fast.
Danny Boyle & Alex Garland Reunite
Boyle and Garland, the creative team behind the original 2002 film, reunite for this ambitious trilogy-launching sequel. The director told fans at CinemaCon, “I still love an apocalypse, British-style. I still love the infected. And I still love blowing stuff up.”
Meanwhile, Cillian Murphy, star of the original, is involved as an executive producer — and possibly more. Boyle hinted fans will “have to wait a little while” to see Murphy on screen again.
Release Date
Following 28 Years Later, director Nia DaCosta will take the reins for the sequel titled The Bone Temple. She described it as a unique addition: “It’s very much informed by 28 Days Later, but the script is very different. I got to let my freak flag fly.”
The trailer — reportedly shot on an iPhone 15 Pro Max — delivers unrelenting visuals, from blood-soaked glass shattering to skull-stacked landscapes. Expect existential dread and chaos in every frame.
28 Years Later opens in theaters June 20, 2025.
