Human-Sized Labubu Doll Sells for Over $150K in Record Auction
A life-sized Labubu doll has just become the world’s most expensive toy of its kind, selling for a jaw-dropping 1.08 million yuan (about $150,000 USD) at a Beijing auction on June 10, 2025.

The 131 cm (4ft 4in) figurine headlined a dedicated Labubu-themed auction held by Yongle International Auction, with 48 pieces on offer and about 200 attendees. In total, the event raised 3.37 million yuan, confirming Labubu’s high-stakes status in the world of collectible toys.
From Cult Favorite to Celebrity Must-Have
Originally created by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung, Labubu is part of a quirky monster universe sold by Chinese toy giant Pop Mart. While most Labubu figurines retail for around 50 yuan, celebrity endorsements have turned them into viral gold.
BLACKPINK’s Lisa, Rihanna, and Dua Lipa have all been spotted with Labubu in recent years, thus helping catapult the toy into global pop culture. Even David Beckham got in on the trend, once sharing an Instagram post featuring Labubu hanging from his bag.
Viral Demand, Blind Boxes, and Global Expansion
Labubu toys often come in “blind boxes”, a popular sales tactic where buyers only find out which design they purchased after unboxing. This has added an element of surprise—and sometimes chaos—to their sales.
Earlier this year, Pop Mart pulled Labubu dolls from UK stores due to customer disputes and fights over the collectibles.
Still, Pop Mart’s success continues to climb. The company more than doubled its revenue in 2024, bringing in 13 million yuan. It also expanded into five new countries, including Italy and Spain.
The Auction That Made History
This week’s Beijing auction has now cemented Labubu’s place in collector history. The buyer of the $150K human-sized figurine was congratulated onstage. This capped an event proving these toys are serious investments—not just cute desk decorations.
