Miami Hurricanes Offer $2M NIL Deal to Jackson Cantwell
Miami is going all-in for one of the nation’s top offensive tackles — and it might just pay off.

A $2M NIL Offer Shakes Up the Recruitment
The Miami Hurricanes have reportedly offered five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell the highest Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) package of his recruitment. According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Miami’s first-year NIL deal is valued at around $2 million, positioning the Hurricanes as the top financial contender for the elite lineman’s commitment.
Cantwell is set to announce his college decision on May 13. While the Oregon Ducks and Georgia Bulldogs remain in the mix, Miami, led by head coach Mario Cristobal, has clearly made a statement.
Cantwell’s Options: Money, Prestige, or Versatility
Although Georgia reportedly isn’t matching Miami’s NIL numbers, Kirby Smart’s program offers long-term appeal: NFL development and championship contention. Smart has built a track record of turning recruits into pros, a factor that still holds weight in these NIL-heavy times.
Oregon, meanwhile, may not have disclosed its NIL offer, but it’s reportedly pushing a unique angle. Cantwell, a standout shot put thrower, has been told the Ducks would support his dual-sport career. Oregon’s track and field program is elite, and Hayward Field — a world-class venue — is right next to Autzen Stadium.
Friendships and Final Visits Tip the Scale
Cantwell’s last visit will be to Georgia over Mother’s Day weekend, giving the Bulldogs a crucial final shot to sway the Missouri native. He also has a known friendship with five-star QB Jared Curtis, who just committed to Georgia — adding another layer to the decision-making process.
Yet, Miami may have another ace: Carson Beck, Georgia’s former starter, has transferred to Miami with a major NIL deal. A commitment from Cantwell could result in $6 million in NIL commitments for two key players — a strong signal that Miami is serious about building a title-contending offense.
Football vs. Track
Jackson Cantwell’s recruitment has evolved beyond just football. His passion for shot put and Oregon’s support for dual-sport athletes may prove to be a deciding factor. Still, $2 million upfront from Miami is hard to overlook.
We’ll find out on May 13 if money, relationships, or a chance to compete in multiple sports wins out.
