After losing his featherweight belt to Ilia Topuria in 2024, Alexander Volkanovski came into UFC 314 with something to prove—and he did just that. The 36-year-old Australian outlasted Diego Lopes in a grueling five-round battle to reclaim the featherweight title.

Lopes, riding a five-fight win streak, brought the heat early with sharp counters and slick grappling, but Volkanovski’s championship experience and cardio proved too much. By the championship rounds, Volk turned up the pace, earning a unanimous decision win and cementing his return to the top.

“The strap’s coming back with me,” Volkanovski promised at weigh-ins—and he delivered.

Paddy Pimblett Destroys Michael Chandler in Career-Defining Win

In the co-main event, Paddy Pimblett made the loudest statement of his UFC career. The Liverpool star dominated Michael Chandler from the second round onward, finishing the fight via TKO in round three.

After a competitive first round, Pimblett picked Chandler apart on the feet and controlled him on the ground, showing elevated fight IQ and composure. A brutal knee in the third split Chandler open, and the referee stepped in after an onslaught of unanswered strikes.

“We game plan, we use our fight IQ, and we beat ,” Pimblett said post-fight.
“I want that world title… Dustin, Gaethje, Oliveira, Arman—anyone. Let’s go.”

With the win, Pimblett moves to 9-0 in the UFC, placing himself firmly in title contention.
