Timberwolves Eliminate Warriors, Advance to Second Straight Western Conference Finals
The Minnesota Timberwolves are heading back to the Western Conference Finals after a dominant 121-110 victory over the Golden State Warriors in Game 5. Led by a standout performance from Julius Randle, the Wolves closed out the series 4-1 on their home court.

Julius Randle, Anthony Edwards Lead the Charge
Randle delivered a near-flawless night, scoring 29 points on 13-of-18 shooting, while Anthony Edwards added 22 points and 12 assists. Their combined efforts overwhelmed the Warriors, who struggled without Stephen Curry, sidelined with a hamstring injury since Game 1.
“I just try to read the game the best I can,” said Randle, acknowledging the defensive challenges Golden State posed throughout the series.
Warriors Falter Without Curry, Despite Podziemski’s Career Night
Brandin Podziemski stepped up with a playoff career-high 28 points, and Jonathan Kuminga added 26 points off the bench. However, it wasn’t enough. Key players like Jimmy Butler III and Buddy Hield failed to provide consistent scoring after their Game 1 win.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr gave credit where it was due. “I don’t want to take anything away from what Minnesota just accomplished. No sense in even talking about Steph,” he said.
Wolves’ Offense Too Much to Handle
Minnesota’s offense was unstoppable, shooting 77% on two-pointers and setting franchise playoff records for assists (36) and field goal percentage (62.8%). Rudy Gobert dominated inside with 17 points, while Mike Conley chipped in 16 points and eight assists.
Even when the Warriors cut the lead to nine in the fourth quarter, Edwards silenced the rally with a clutch three-pointer, igniting “Wolves in 5!” chants from the roaring crowd.
What’s Next for Minnesota?
The Wolves now await the winner of the Denver Nuggets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder series. If Denver forces a Game 7, Minnesota could enjoy five days of rest before the next round.
Edwards, however, remains focused. “There is no satisfaction. We just got here.”
